Our Innovation

Better ideas for healthier gardens

Innovation at Riverside isn't always about creating something completely new. Sometimes it's about finding a better way to protect what already works.

From more sustainable packaging to specialist plant-health formulations, we continue to look for practical ways to improve our products, reduce unnecessary waste and deliver better outcomes for New Zealand gardeners.

Sheep Pellets

Sheep Pellets — Better for the Product, Better for the Planet

Sheep pellets have long been a favourite fertiliser for New Zealand home gardeners. At Riverside, we believe the packaging should protect the natural qualities of the product while also being environmentally responsible.

Our sheep pellets are packed in a heavy-duty, two-ply paper bag, providing a recyclable alternative to traditional plastic packaging. But the benefit of paper goes beyond reducing plastic.

Sheep pellets naturally contain beneficial microbial life, including saprotrophic fungi, which are associated with the breakdown of organic material and the return of nutrients to the soil. When sheep pellets are sealed in plastic, trapped moisture and humidity can cause the pellets to “sweat”, killing off these naturally occurring microbial properties.

Our breathable paper packaging is designed to help preserve the natural characteristics of the pellets, allowing gardeners to gain the full benefit of this long-trusted organic fertiliser — supporting healthier soils, healthier plants and better yields.

Riverside is proud to offer sheep pellets in paper packaging, combining product quality, practical innovation and environmental responsibility in one simple solution.

Our focus is not only on reducing plastic, but on nurturing the natural qualities that have made sheep pellets a favourite of New Zealand gardeners for generations.
